Big weekend planned for John Wayne…first up: trip to Tacoma area for a mock NW3 trial – sort of. This “sniff and go” is an opportunity for help/advice/viewing by other eyes. Not sure if we will be running through all four elements: containers, interiors, exteriors, and vehicles….but whatever we do will be a blast.
Sunday we are heading to Oregon’s Willamette Valley for nose work practice with our dog friends Halle, Abbie, Kooper, and Gabby (aka Rain Dog). We will stop at whatever school, parking lot, park, interesting place, then put out some “hides” (odor containers with birch, anise, and or cloves (maybe combinations)); the tins sit for 15-30 minutes then each dog/handler gets to take their turn. Halle and Abbie have NW3 trials in two weeks, so we are doing everything we can to get them and their handlers ready to go.
